The Otago Rush are based in Dunedin New Zealand The team name is derived from a number of factors including the “Gold Rush” era of the late 19th century which shaped the province of Otago and its tough wild frontier persona The numerous fast flowing rivers that rush through the province and the associated football terminology is also represented in the team name.
The logo consists of the team name with a gold trim tilted font for the movement effect representing the fast flowing rivers and a stylized gold prospecting miner complete with pick in one hand and football in the other.
Team uniform and colors represent the traditional provincial colors of Otago. The deep navy blue reflective of the many deep and pristine lakes and fast flowing rivers. The gold trim representing and befitting the precious ores influence within the province.
